In today's video, we're hiking the Waimano Ridge Trail, about 25 mins' drive from Honolulu. This trail offers beautiful rainforest hiking and views over the mountains. Since we're hiking in the winter (the rainy season), there is also plenty of both mud and rainbows!
A unique aspect of this hike is the prevalence of old irrigation tunnels that can be used as alternate route choices around tricky sections of the trail. In some cases, you have a choice of options among navigating steep rock sections with ropes, walking through an old irrigation tunnel, or taking a longer route around on a normal trail. The Waimano Ridge tunnels are a unique experience for sure!
The full trail is more than 16 miles, so we hiked a much smaller section, ending at a pavilion overlook.
