Edinburgh ReproducibiliTea Session #7, 19-03-2021
In this session Dr. Rosalind Attenborough presents some of her key findings from her PhD in her talk titled “Stories from the open science "revolution": how scientists talk about openness”.
Dr. Attenborough has recently finished her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, in which she focused on biological scientists in the UK and Australia whose professional and epistemic worlds are undergoing transformation in this open science "revolution". Through in-depth interviews, she listened to meanings of "openness in science" constructed by this group of scientists both within and outside current open science discourses. In this talk she will discuss some of her findings, which illustrate a wide range of relationships between scientists and openness, and highlight some of the dimensions of research culture that support open, collaborative behaviour.
