This week, de Blasio has continued his ask to feds for permission and supplies to use second-shot doses as first-shot doses. The City Health Department says they have less than 8,000 first-round doses available on Tuesday, but had about 202,000 second-round doses. ‘I’d rather give more people some protection than fewer people full protection,’ de Blasio said, claiming that accessing the larger stockpile immediately while they await another shipment could help more people now. De Blasio says he is hopeful the Biden administration's plans to distribute vaccines could help the city with its vaccine rollout issues.
