According to the 2016 Census of Population, 7.5 million foreign-born people in Canada came through the immigration process. They represented more than 1 in 5 people in Canada. She completed her doctorate at York University in the field of epidemiology and her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
