In this LeatherSeats.com Tech Tips Video Eric goes over how to properly use a heat gun on leather to remove wrinkles. You should only use this method of getting wrinkles out if you are a professional upholsterer and have a lot of experienced working with leather. Using a heat gun can seriously damage your leather if you are not carful and you should NEVER use a heat gun on any kind of vinyl. For a less aggressive approach to removing wrinkles from your installed leather upholstery, you should use steam as it is much more forgiving. That being said sometimes the stubborn leather wrinkles can only be removed with the direct intense heat of a heat gun. Many people have asked us about what heat gun they should purchase as well as can they use a normal hair dryer? The answer to the heat gun is easy, any heat gun should work. We got a cheap heat gun on Amazon for about $25 and it worked great! As for the hair dryer...no, hair dryers do not help in the slightest as there is not nearly enough heat being blown to make a difference in the leather.
