Building the Selway Fisher designed Ptarmigan 17 in 2015. This has been nearly ideal as a small pocket cruiser. At around 1300lbs, it is trailerable behind an SUV or small truck without the need for trailer brakes. It sets up in about 15 minutes-if your organized, and leaves you feeling secure on the water. The plans are metric, but easy to follow, and use, even for a first time builder. You can set it up in 15 minutes at the launch site, but plan on twice that as you will always attract a crowd.
