Dysautonomia training tip—HRV training 💙
It’s dysautonomia awareness month and this is a common feature of many different neurological disorders (especially post concussion, FND, EDS, POTS, and PD)
It’s an important piece that can be overlooked—so we do a lot of autonomic assessment and treatment at re+active.
So, if you are you a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist or psychologist looking to enhance your dysautonomia treatment approach—we love looking at Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Training!
We are big fans of the @getlief (we are not affiliated with this company—just love the device!)
Using this portable ECG device, we get real-time feedback, allowing us a window into the autonomic nervous system during rest and activity.
What I love about this particular device is that it can provide biofeedback and take someone through several different practices that help to raise the HRV, too. Shout out to our PT @adilirikondja.pt for demonstrating her own HRV increase with practice.
When HRV goes up, it’s a great indication that autonomic balance is on the rise. This means better symptom management and improved overall well-being for your patients! 💪
