U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered remarks on Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon regarding the Congressional response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
"The American people expect and deserve a coordinated, science-based and whole of government response," Pelosi said, adding that the legislation is "focused directly on providing support for America's families who must be our first priority."
Pelosi said the Congressional action, known as the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, would see spending of over US $8 billion to help Americans cope with the economic impacts of COVID-19.
