Vibrio vulnificus, often referred to as "flesh-eating bacteria," is an infection that manifests symptoms like redness and swelling, large blisters, fever, and a progressing redness in limbs. It can penetrate the body through minor injuries like scrapes and cause rapidly expanding infection in soft tissue. While anyone can contract a V. vulnificus infection, individuals with liver disease, diabetes, or weakened immune responses are particularly at risk.
