যানজট নিরসনসহ যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা সহজ করতে ২০২২ সালে নেয়া হয় শেরপুর-ময়মনসিংহ সড়ক উন্নয়ন প্রকল্প। প্রায় পৌনে ২ হাজার কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে এ প্রকল্পে ময়মনসিংহের ব্রহ্মপুত্র নদে রহমতপুর আর্চ স্টিল সেতুসহ, শেরপুর পর্যন্ত ৪৩ কিলোমিটার সড়ক নির্মিত হবে। এতে কমবে অন্তত ২০ কিলোমিটার দূরত্ব, বাঁচবে সময়। তবে মুখ থুবড়ে পড়েছে প্রকল্পটি। মেয়াদ শেষ হতে মাত্র সাত মাস বাকি থাকলেও জমি অধিগ্রহণ শেষ না হওয়ায় ময়মনসিংহের অংশে কাজ শুরুই হয়নি।
