George Gordon, Lord Byron (1788 - 1824) - British statesman, politician, soldier and poet. I chose these images because I first read this poem in Ray Bradbury's science fiction classic, "The Martian Chronicles." It is in the ruins of a Martian city that soon-to-be-renegade crewman Spender quotes the poem. Images are from the Internet, with two stills from the 1980 television mini-series adaptation, starring Bernie Casey, Darren McGavin, and Rock Hudson.
