Using nontraditional materials—from jet engines to animal parts to nitrates, The New School presents ([ Ссылка ]) Roger Hiorns. The talk explores his sculptures, performances, and installations investigate the possibility of transformation in objects, social encounters, and urban settings. In his 2009 installation Seizure, he pumped 75,000 liters of copper sulfate solution into an abandoned South London council apartment, creating a crystalline growth on the walls, floor, and ceiling. In his February 8 talk, Hiorns will consider the subject of transformation in relation to his recent works. Co-sponsored by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics ([ Ссылка ] | [ Ссылка ])

Roger Hiorns lives and works in London. His work has appeared in solo exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum in Colorado (2010), Art Institute of Chicago (2010), Tate Britain (2009), Camden Arts Centre in London (2007), and UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles (2003). In 2009 Hiorns was nominated for the Turner Prize for his installation Seizure.
