Burningtown Gap to Winding Stair Gap over Wayah & Siler Balds

We utilized a shuttle service to minimize our driving and were dropped off at Burningtown Gap around 9:30am to begin our slack pack hike southbound to Winding stair gap. It started out as a very cold foggy upper 30 degree day but the sun finally came out before getting to Siler Bald. We had no views at Wayah Bald. We ran into Snow White and Dan around the midpoint of our hike at about the time the fog started lifting. I am trying to get to Fontana Dam in 4 days to allow final prep for the smokies including staging of both cars at Newfound Gap. Temps are dropping into the 20’s tonight so Snow White and Dan will have a heck of a cold night in their tents while Terry, Lisa, and I sleep in a cabin.
