Having some fun with some new mini and micro suppressors from GSL Technology
Suppressor technology continues to get better every year with new innovations and ideas as well as some great new products to hit the market. One area that seems to be growing, but was new to me, is the idea of the micro and mini suppressor.
I first experienced one of these with the Gemtech Aurora II which was originally made under contract for Air Force pilots that found themselves in an Escape and Evasion situation. In the military I spent a lot of time with suppressed firearms, but never really gave much thought to the size of most of them. I didn't mind length if the weight, noise reduction, and functionality were all still there, but lately we see a lot of cans that are reducing the size as well. One such company is GSL Technology.
GSL Technology has been designing and manufacturing suppressors in the background for Gemtech for years, and in recent years became their own brand under which they make some of the older style Gemtech platforms using new technology and innovation while also creating some new suppressors in their own right as well. I recently found a few suppressors that were new to me so I bought them and thought I would see how they work.
This video showcases the following suppressors:
- Trinity SS 9mm suppressor on a Sig P365XL
- Alleycat 32 ACP suppressor on a Beretta 3032 Tomcat
- the pillbox .22 LR suppressor on a Beretta 21A Bobcat
As I talk about in the video, all three handguns were new in the box for this review, and I normally wouldn't test a new suppressor on a new gun that hasn't been broken in yet, but that just happened to be what I had with me at the range that day and I account the few issues in slide function to be more about the gun itself than any issue with the suppressors.
Each of these cans did in fact reduce the volume of the perceived report and also reduced muzzle flash. They were not AS quiet as a fuller length, full baffled set up, but for something like an EDC setup, or their intended purpose of E&E, they do exactly what they are supposed to do. I am excited to spend more time with each of these, but this was a fun introduction to a new line of suppressors for me, and since this video was filmed, I have purchased a few more full size rifle and pistol suppressors as well as some full auto rated ones for some of my select fire weapons. Stay tuned for some more GSL suppressors popping up in my videos in the future.
