A satisfying end to a fun and relaxing flight, during which the setting sun bathed the distant LA skyline in a hazy bath of orange and pink.
I had never flown this wing, had not flown in months, the wing had no wheels, and the air on the ground was catabatic. That downslope flow was mixing with the strong West a few hundred feet up. mixing up some decent rotor.
My plan was to shoot up the middle of the field and up the bottom of the training field. It worked pretty well, though the F4 170 retains energy better than my F3 195 and I was nervous about a belly landing, no wheels and all, and I started my flare a little early. I realized my mistake and managed to leg it out, thanks to the F4's forgiving nature and the slight uphill I had reached.
What a fun wing to fly.
