Hey YouTubers!
I mentioned in my previous video that I was going to do another video on a recent pipe purchase, and this is it. I purchased this second pipe from the same UK retailer that sold me the mouldy St Patrick's Day pipe.
My second purchase was a Peterson Silver Cap (408) Sandblast, with a red stain, which, to my knowledge, has been discontinued. I don't know what year the pipe was made, but it was advertised as "new". If anyone in the YTPC happens to know when Peterson stopped producing these 408 Silver Caps with the red stain, then please let me know in the comments below. The 408 Silver Caps are still being produced by Peterson, but they're only available right now in the black finish.
Regarding this second pipe purchase, I found there was a dent in the silver cap, and, once again, this issue wasn't picked up by the retailer or shown in the pictures advertised. They did offer me a full refund, but I decided to keep it. What am I going to do about the dent? Well, I reached out to Peterson pipes directly, by email, and because this particular pipe and stain combination is no longer being produced, they have agreed to either fix it for me, or, if they can't fix it, they'll actually replace the whole cap (at my own expense).
I'll be sending this pipe off to the Peterson pipe repair department in Ireland tomorrow, but because I live in Australia, it'll probably take a few weeks to get there. So as long as the pipe doesn't get lost or broken in transit, then I plan on doing an update video on this pipe as soon as I get it back. I've never sent anything to the Peterson pipe repair department before, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of job they do.
Despite having two bad experiences with the same retailer, I have decided not to name them, as they have always offered me a refund. They have even offered to send me a pre-paid shipping label, so I wouldn't have to pay the return postage.
