The White Water Hydroplane Race on the Rogue River is the Memorial Day Boatnik weekends main event. 50hp Mercurys, piped and tuned, pushing people and plywood at 80mph. Racers are on their knees flying inches above the water and face large standing rollers. They've blown over, barrel rolled, stuffed and ended up in splinters many times, but they keep getting faster. Boats are lined up on the bank in order of finish on preceding leg or starting grid determined thru draw of the hat. Green flag drops and racers pull start to begin each leg.
