The (Slussen) Golden Bridge in Stockholm is made out of steel, weighing in at 3 400 tons. Built in China and transported
to Sweden in one piece, the bridge went on a voyage with a calculated environmental impact equal to 3 000 transatlantic
flights. The total carbon footprint of the Golden bridge is calculated at roughly 15 million kg of CO2e. But what if it would
have been built using STILFOLD instead? STILFOLD is an origami-like process which would have allowed us to “fold” the
bridge on site in a stronger yet lighter design. We're calling it "industrial origami". Using STILFOLD, we could have built
the Golden Bridge using local, Swedish steel, bringing down the footprint by 60%. = 30 thousand transatlantic flights.
