The Chalfont St Peter vent shaft will provide ventilation and emergency access to the Chilterns tunnel. Construction of it is well underway. Take a trip down the shaft to see how much it has been excavated. The total shaft depth will be 67 metres. Excavated material will be used for local landscaping. The ventilation shaft’s head house has been designed to look like a barn and will blend in with the local surroundings.
