A roman 9/8 rhythm is a rhythm in 9 beats and is played in Turkey. Actually if you play this rhythm anywhere in public in Turkey you will immediately have dancers all around you (no joke - try it - for the Turks this groove is infectious and if practice it you'll see why). The other common 9 rhythm in Turkey is called Karsilama. I've made a video about it here
