Ravensbruck Concentration Camp in Northern Germany. Created by Heinrich Himmler specifically to house women and children. He'd wanted a camp for a long time where he could do forced labour on Jewish women and children, and also experiments on them.
Over 45,000 female prisoners passed through Ravensbruck. Up to 30,000 perished in it's gas chamber, and through forced labour.
20,000 female prisoners were forced on death marches towards Mecklenburg, as advancing Soviet forces came to free the camp. Only 2000 sick men, women and children were found at Ravensbruck, as the Soviets liberated the camp.
