The government now says 1080 out of the over 13,000 units in the Mukuru Affordable Housing program have been completed and ready for occupation. Speaking during a tour of the site by a team from the United Nations Habitat alongside senior government officials, the acting secretary, urban and metropolitan development Eng. B.K Njenga said the project is made up of 26 blocks of bed-sitter units, 14 blocks of one-bedroom units and 48 blocks of 2 edroom units. The UN habitat team lauded the project saying it will solve the housing problem in the capital city.
