Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is an Indian actress, model, and the winner of the Miss World 1994 pageant. She has appeared in over 50 Hindi films and is one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses in Bollywood. Rai has also appeared in several international films, including Bride & Prejudice (2004), The Mistress of Spices (2005), and Pink Panther 2 (2009). She is the recipient of numerous awards, including two Filmfare Awards.  

Rai was born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She is the daughter of a marine biologist and a writer. Rai has one older brother, Aditya Rai. She attended St. Mary's Convent High School in Mangalore and Jai Hind College in Mumbai.  

Rai began her career as a model in 1994. She won the Miss World pageant that year and went on to become one of India's most successful models. In 1997, Rai made her Bollywood debut in the film Iruvar. She has since appeared in many successful films, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), and Dhoom 2 (2006).  

Rai is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan, the son of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. The couple has one daughter, Aaradhya.  

In addition to her acting career, Rai is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She has been involved in a number of charitable causes, including the fight against HIV/AIDS.
