With the aging out of a lot of the water industry workforce, knowledge retention is becoming even more of a critical topic than ever before. Much of the "institutional knowledge" about water systems and their various components may be walking out the door with the retirement of more senior operators. This can put newer people coming in - and the entire water system - at a disadvantage unless there is a comprehensive plan in place to capture that knowledge and make it accessible to other team members. Beyond just training new team members, having a knowledge retention system makes it easier to maintain and repair existing equipment, especially where the equipment may require maintenance on a less frequent schedule. Joseph Blackman of Vitendo Training Solutions discusses his unique system for documenting equipment and system components to make their use, maintenance, and repair accessible from the outset. Join us for this interesting dive into knowledge retention for the water industry.
