At Depew, the 'New York Style' signals illuminate for an approaching train. After a quick crew change at Cheektowaga, CSX K212 powers eastbound, with a single AC4400CW (404) and a lengthy train. CSX K212 continues to accelerate when suddenly the train's airline hose is broken causing an emergency application. The train comes to a quick stop, at only 9 car lengths. Inconviently, 2 Amtrak's and a high-priority westbound stack train are lined up. Fortunately, the stack train is switched onto the 3rd track at proceeds at a restricted speed of 10 MPH. The Amtrak's however were delayed until a mechanic came and repaired the airhose. The train regained sustainable air pressure and continued towards Rochester, NY. 12/28/10 - 4:00 AM.
