A look back at Go Ahead operation of the 24 which has a rich history in London. Staring around 1910 the 24 ran between Victoria and Hampstead Heath by the London General Omnibus Company and became part of the London Transport network. By the late 80's London Transport started to privatise and tender out bus operations and the 24 was the first ever to be awarded under a contract tender to a private company. It was operated by Grey Green and used buses that were in a completely different livery to London Transport's Red, it wore a Grey, Green and Orange coloured livery. Grey Green became part of the Cowie Group and would later to be named Arriva. In 2002 Metroline won the contact and based the 24 at Holloway Bus Garage and was the first London route to use Alexander Dennis Enviro400 buses. However by 2007 the operation was contracted to Go Ahead from Stockwell using another batch of Enviro400's. After 5 years TFL awarded the 24 back to Metroline using a batch of Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 with Volvo B9TL and B5L chassis.
