A tiny yellow bird is growing in the garden! This Brassocattleya Yellow Bird is the offspring of a Brassavola nadosa (species orchid) and a Cattleya Richard Muelller, a primary hybrid bred from a Brassavola nadosa (species) and a Cattleya milleri (species). This yellow bird is mounted in the bracts of a cabbage palm (Florida's state palm tree) and is coming into full bloom. It gives off a spicy scent during evening hours (in hopes of attracting its pollinator).
