Which lenses do I have? And why do I have them? What do I love and hate about them? Those questions will be answered today.
Here are my three loved lenses:
ZEISS Batis 25mm f/2.0 — Landscape / Video Lens — [ Ссылка ]
This lens is the one that I use most on my Gimbal and for Video. It's a great quality lens. Has an incredible autofocus, which is basically not audible. Overall, a very nice color rich lens made by ZEISS. The field of view is great for the wider shots and not too wide to be crazy. Occasionally I wish I had a little more to get an even more immersive feel — but for now, this is enough.
ZEISS Batis 85mm f/1.8 — Portrait / Detail Lens — [ Ссылка ]
A lovely portrait lens and also great for details. I use this for photography almost exclusively. Sometimes also on the gimbal for some detail video shots. But in general, a great lens to photograph people. This lens has the same amazing autofocus that the 25mm Batis also has. Superfast and super silent.
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART — Portrait / Instagram Lens — [ Ссылка ]
I need this combo because Sigma sadly has no Sigma E-Mount version of this 35mm. This is quickly becoming my new most favorite lens. It is the newest of the three, and I already love it, and it is my go-to photo lens by now. I heard so many good things about this lens, and I am starting to see why. One thing I have to note: this lens is not really made for video (at least not with autofocus). The autofocus motor is relatively slow and super loud. So if you want to talk and have a mic on the camera? You are definitely going to pick up those nasty focusing sounds. Another downside that comes with this lens being so fast in terms of aperture: it's a heavy weight (with the adapter, around 750g without the camera). Other than that, the quality is incredible. The colors are beautiful. The bokeh and sharpness — lovely.
On top of these lenses for my Sony A7ii, I also carry the GoPro Hero 5 and my iPhone. Those have fixed lenses, so not much to talk there. Also, the lenses of the GoPro and the iPhone are Primes (no zooming without quality loss). But overall excellent quality.
In Conclusion: I love my primes. And every so often I wish I had a zoom. But there is always a downside somewhere to anything.
