The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra held an outdoor concert at the entrance of Cape Town’s Groote Schuur Hospital to honour healthcare workers who have been working at the frontline to contain the Coronavirus in South Africa.
Louis Heyneman, the CEO of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, said the public had no idea what healthcare workers are going through. He said the Orchestra wished to honour healthcare workers with this gratitude concert.
The orchestra played to the public and to hospital for an hour, with concert starting just after midday.
Carmen Miller, a staff member at the hospital, said the the concert was amazing as most healthcare staff don’t get an opportunity to watch a symphony orchestra.
