CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG
The Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog, often known as the Catahoula Leopard Dog, has its origin in northern Louisiana. These tough yet elegant "hog dogs" were used to herd animals to the slaughterhouse. He continues to be more of a working dog than a companion now, but he is unquestionably versatile.
In their home state, you'll find Catahoulas tasked with herding cattle, acting as watchdogs, retrieving waterfowl, and hunting wild hogs. Although they are wary of strangers, Catahoula leopards form close relationships with their families and may make wonderful family pets. Catahoulas, who were bred with a strong sense of independence, need some patience. However, if properly handled and trained with positive reinforcement, a Catahoula may be an excellent pet.
