Want to become a digital nomad family?
Here are 3 challenges you may want to consider:
1. Different time zones
For instance, we work in the Americas, European, and African time zones at SafetyWing. So, working from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Bali is nearly impossible because I would have calls between 12-3 AM. I won’t get enough rest, especially with kids who sleep early and wake up by 6-7 AM.
2. Schooling and childcare
This is often the reason parents resist becoming digital nomads, however, there are solutions to this which I share in my other post.
3. Lack of community
You can’t carry your community as you travel the world, which is essential for you to thrive and feel a sense of belonging.
It can leave some people feeling isolated, but this is very solvable so long as you take the initiative. There are many nomad communities you can plug into as you travel, and if you look for them they exist everywhere.
While there will be unique obstacles you face, don’t let those hold you back. I’ve been traveling the world with my kids for the past several years, so I am a testament to how possible it is.
If you dream of becoming a borderless family and exploring different cultures and places, be on the lookout for more posts as I’ll share different tips from my nomad experience.
If you have any questions about being a digital nomad, especially as a parent, let me know in the comments.
