Behind door number 1 of the Beerwulf Beer Advent Calendar 2020 is... Behind Door no.1 is...⠀Brewdog Duopolis!⠀
Brewery: BrewDog
Beer style: Milkshake IPA
ABV: 4.7%
The BrewDog Duopolis is an Oat Cream DDH IPA. But, what does that mean?
DDH: If a beer is Double Dry Hopped it means that during the brewing process (during or after fermentation) a double dose of hops was added to the beer. Because the hops are not boiled, the fruity aromas are preserved, and no extra bitterness is added.
Oat Cream: Oats provide a soft, velvety body. Lactose gives more body and sweetness. That is why it is also called a Milkshake IPA.
The result is a bitter beer with hoppy and fruity notes of kiwi, lychee and berries. A reasonably full, creamy body and sweetness provide the right balance. It ends with a fresh mild bitter finish.
Food pairing: Try the Duopolis with light, spicy Asian dishes, the fruitiness of the beer will complement those flavours nicely. The dish can have some spice, but make sure that the spiciness does not dominate the beer.
