This webinar clip features Dr. Marilyn A. Brown, Professor of Sustainable Systems, Georgia Tech School of Public Policy, introduced by Blair Beasley, director of climate strategies at the Ray C. Anderson Foundation.
Every very three years, Georgians have an opportunity to participate in the Integrated Resource Planning process (IRP) for Georgia Power, the largest electric utility in our state. The IRP process sets the energy plan for Georgia Power, playing a key role in charting our state’s energy future--and in offering opportunities to scale climate solutions in Georgia.
The IRP is your chance to make your voice heard.
In this webinar, our expert panel explores how climate solutions are impacted by the IRP and share how you can get involved on issues including:
- How much new solar will be built in large-scale solar farms.
- What options Georgians will have for rooftop solar.
- How many coal-fired power plants Georgia Power will continue to run.
- Whether more businesses and individuals can participate in energy efficiency and demand response programs.
Accelerating Georgia’s progress to renewables means increasing both rooftop solar and large-scale solar as well as putting waste heat to work in co-generation plants, capturing methane from landfills and turning it into power, and shifting our electricity usage to off-peak. Scaling these solutions will help us solve for climate change and bring us closer to our goal of net zero emissions in our state.
