Investigators found torn-up sick notes in the home of Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, including one for the day of the fatal crash that killed 150 people.

German prosecutors said they had seized medical documents from Lubitz’s apartment in Dusseldorf and his parents’ home north of Frankfurt, the BBC reported. The notes indicated Lubitz was unfit to work.

“[The] ripped, recent medical leave notes, including for the day of the offense, leads to the preliminary conclusion that the deceased kept his illness secret from his employer and his professional environment,” prosecutors said in a statement.

Germanwings confirmed it had not been given the sick notes.

Dusseldorf University Hospital confirmed that Lubitz sought treatment from the hospital in February and on March 10. The hospital, however, said Lubitz did not attend the hospital for treatment of depression, BBC reported.
