(4 Oct 2019) 'ROMA' STAR APPOINTED AS UNESCO AMBASSADOR
Mexican film star Yalitza Aparicio was named officially as a goodwill ambassador for the UNESCO agency on Friday (4 OCT. 2019).
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation appointed her in recognition for her work on promoting and defending gender equality and the rights of native peoples.
Aparicio was nominated for an Oscar for her star performance in Alfonso Cuaron's "Roma", which ended up winning the award for the best foreign language film.
During her two-year term as goodwill ambassador, Aparicio will promote action in favour of the empowerment of indigenous peoples and foster greater awareness.
