GROVE HUNT ON FOOT AND "BOX UP EARLY"
We dedicate today's sab to a friend and comrade who tragically passed a few days ago. We will miss having you in our sab van, the laughs and your kind soul. Rest in peace.
Today, eagle eyed locals spotted the Grove meeting at the Black Lion in Firbeck. Hunt staff and support were clearly keen not to lose this meet to frosty conditions and headed out on foot.
We found hounds, terriermen and a handful of support hunting the Sandbeck Estate close to Laughton en le Morthen. The hunt gave us a strong feeling that they didnt want to be seen out and immediately turned tail into the large Kings Wood.
Hounds were scattered all over Kings Wood. Sabbing in large woodlands can be difficult, as we do not want to scare fleeing animals back towards the hounds. However, it wasnt too long before we caught up with hunt supporters, who had an area of brambles surrounded while hounds worked to catch a fox. Again, supporters scarpered to pack up, leaving huntsman Haddock like a fish out of water trying to gather stray hounds.
