Dr. Diana Obidniak, MD is a fertility specialist and an affiliated professor at St. Petersburg State University with extensive experience in the field of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and recurrent implantation failure. Her team has four international awards and two patents and has developed a viable step-by-step treatment algorithm that guarantees impressively high success rates, even in the most severe cases.
In her speech held during the Kinderwunsch Info Weekend in Zurich, Dr. Obidniak described the steps of in vitro fertilization, such as cultivation, evaluation, AI-assisted selection, and implantation of embryos. She spoke about various supporting and hindering factors and put emphasis on the significance of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). Besides, she shared the results of the recent research on the role of endometrium and microbiome in implantation and pregnancy and the correlation between sperm quality and genetic abnormalities in embryos.
The final part of the speech was about the pathological endometrial alterations and concomitant health issues that can be detrimental to success rates. Dr. Obidniak also stressed the importance of the implantation window and personalized embryo transfer.
