A big thank you to @PrincessLadyRain for modifying the VPK file for this map! In the original version of this map, mutations didn’t work properly and we couldn’t use the admin system or the LinGe vscript addon. But now that both of those addons work in this edited file, we can add more SI!
This was without a doubt the hardest custom map I’ve played. Yes, even harder than Absolute Zero, Silent Hill 1, SH: Otherside of Life, and Questionable Ethics! All three chapters were insanely difficult, but the 1st chapter was the most grueling one. One definite reason for this was the chapter itself being incredibly long and narrow with water sections that didn't allow us to jump, but another component was the drastic leap in ping for us. Our ping went up by around 100-200 when CI and/or SI spawned, and both of them usually spawned at the same time. That meant my ping frequently went up to 300 and even 400 at one point since 200 of that was from playing with Taiwanese teammates while I was from the US. This map didn’t allow any tanks or witches to spawn from the director, but it was for a good reason since there were five scripted tanks in the 1st chapter. The 2nd chapter wasn’t quite as laggy as the 1st and there were no tanks or witches, but it was still a long chapter with a brief but frustrating underwater section at the beginning and caves that caused a lot of stagger cancels for the SI. The 3rd chapter was the “easiest” but still took a couple hours to complete. The hallways after the scripted witch were difficult to deal with because SI were able to spawn both ahead of us and behind us. And we ended up avoiding the infinite horde section by jumping over the gates instead of through the metal detectors. The final section was brutal because of the infected spawning from all sides and the platforms falling. We weren’t stuck if we fell off, but it was a huge setback because we had to walk all the way back to climb a ladder back up. This was the only chapter I played on hard 16 the whole time. There were some custom weapons like the adrenaline gun that could instantly revive an incapacitated teammate and give them 50 temporary health. There was also a rocket launcher, crossbow, flamethrower and a turret. The 1st and 2nd chapters were played on hard 16 at the beginning and end but the middle of them was either hard 6, 8 or even default at times… Muz streamed this map if you wanna see a little bit of the process of tackling this monster of a map. He spent 3 hours on it, but that doesn’t even scratch the surface on how much time I’ve spent on this map altogether. Overall, this campaign took 13 hours to complete!
