At least 50 families in Bugiri district have been left homeless after the water levels on Lake Victoria rose, reclaimed parts of Wakawaka fish landing site in Bulidha sub-county. The water is reported to have submerged the villages of Nakawa, Naburu and Wakawaka, leaving families displaced and property destroyed. Residents say the problem started in February this year when heavy rains forced the water levels in the lake to go up.
