When Indra K. Nooyi was appointed chairperson and CEO of @Pepsi in 2006, she knew that the economic environment was changing - and in order to continue to grow, PepsiCo would have to change with it. So, she set off on a mission to provide a great corporate performance, but with a focus on doing the right thing for people and communities around the world.
She developed a new approach for PepsiCo called Performance with Purpose. PwP was based on four key concepts:
- creating exceptional financial returns, re-working Pepsi’s product portfolio to reduce sugar, salt, and fat,
- while incorporating healthier, more nutritious options,
- minimizing overall environmental impact by conserving water reducing carbon footprint and plastic waste and
- supporting people by offering new support programs for women and families within the company and communities served.
