The Ethiopian government has imposed a six-month state of emergency to stem political unrest amid long-standing demands for greater freedoms.
The ruling party hopes the move will help quell the worst anti-government demonstrations in a quarter of a century, which prompted Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to resign on Thursday.
