At least 38 people were killed and over two dozen critically injured after a passenger plane crashed in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday. Based on the initial visuals of the crash, survival seemed nearly impossible.
Despite rapidly failing equipment, the pilot managed to dump the fuel mid-air just before landing, preventing a massive explosion in the fuel tank.
Reports indicate that the pilots had requested emergency landing clearance shortly before the crash.
