Yes, there's agression between H. notatuses but most often it is something as smooth as this - provided that both have established their own territory with their partner. If they don't, then they simply escape (if they can). But they don't really like to fight. Both males are defending their spawning territory (but only the one on the right has eggs/not-yet-swimming fry currently) .
