Orient is a Japanese brand based out of Tokyo that has been making watches since 1950 and is now owned by Seiko (Seiko Epson)
The Orient Kamasu can be seen as a budget alternative to some Seiko models when you factor in the fact we have a hand-winding and hack-able movement with a Sapphire crystal at apx $150 less than the equivalent Seiko.
To me this is a great everyday automatic. It's tough enough that I can wear it to work and not worry too much about banging it up or scratching the glass. In fact I've been wearing it to work everyday for the last 2 weeks and I have indeed smacked both the bezel and glass directly off of doorways, shelves and desk corners without a scratch to show for it. This thing feels bullet proof and with that Sapphire crystal it should be very hard to scratch. I bought mine used so I only paid apx half price and got an extra Barton brand rubber strap that only adds to the "beater" durability making this my ultimate everyday auto!
The power reserve is rated at a standard 40 hours. I guess if I wound it up before going to bed the first night than two days later it would still be going.
