On December 11, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced plans for the European Union to propose sanctions against extremist settlers involved in violent acts against Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Borrell stated that measures would be taken to address the increased violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. The proposed sanctions aim to address and deter acts of violence in the region.
