Battle for Early Championship Lead Continues at Silverstone GP
After an exciting opening round at Oulton Park, the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship heads to Silverstone.
MDD Racing’s Scott McKenna came close to a clean sweep in the Pro class, achieving double pole and two race wins, only losing out to the third via a track limits penalty. This time, MDD’s GT Pro will be driven by Ben McKenna who looks to equal or better his brother’s performance.
Hot on their heels is Mckenzie Douglass (Fox Motorsport) who took a win at Oulton Park in his debut season in the GT Championship Pro Class as well as a second place finish.
Xentek Motorsport’s Conner and Luke Garlick gave us one of the closest finishes in Ginetta history when Conner crossed the line a mere 0.035s ahead of Luke. We can expect to see more close racing from the Xentek duo.
In the Am class, Matt Shaw (Raceway Motorsport) took a debut victory in race 1 and teammate Nick White took the remaining two class wins. In race 3 Nick held onto the back of the Pro class leaders, the 2023 GT Academy champion looking confident in his new car.
They’re joined this weekend by Peter Mangion (AM), Harry Mangion (PRO) and Jon Kearney (AM).
Alex Toth-Jones returns with Breakell Racing, looking to make an impact in the Pro class as he gets more seat time in his GTP.
The Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship is set to be filled with close racing and thrilling battles, showcasing the best single make series racing there is to offer.
