After lots of build up, the 2023 Honda Civic Type R is here, and we take an exclusive first look to see what it's all about.
Honda says this new Type R is the most powerful Civic ever, promising more power than the previous generations's 306 hp. We don't know the total output yet, but expect to find that out in the coming months. The car still has a standard six-speed manual, with rev matching. It is the only option available at this time.
The Civic Type R now comes standard on Micheline Pilot Sport 4S tires, which is a considerable upgrade over the prior generation's Continental rubber. The new tires are larger too, at 265 mm.
Inside, there are new bucket seats with grippier red material and extra bolstering. The gauge cluster has intuitive graphics and there is a row of shift lights the sits right above it.
Honda will put the new Civic Type R on the market some time later this year, with pricing information to come at a later time.
