This is part 1 of explaining the indirect or reported speech (direkte en indirekte rede)
It includes the basic rules for changing a statement or question from direct speech to indirect speech.

Indirekte rede for a statement: Sarah sê: "Ek is honger."
* write up to sê Sarah sê
* drop the: " "
* add "dat" Sarah sê dat
* change pronouns Sarah sê dat sy
* verb 1 to the end Sarah sê dat sy honger is.

Please note the adverb of time also changes during the present tense.
gister- die vorige dag
môre- die volgende dag
etc
