THE classic polini 177 now new in aluminium with quite some changes. is it worth it? can it close the gap to other 177 kits?
looks amazing! look at that cylinder head and the removable exhaust socket!
but lets have a closer view:
cylinder:
timings sameas the old.one (?!!)
exhaust port shape different
cyl foot already opened (no edge anymore)
better ported at the bottom
removeable exhaust socket
head:
new design also for the combustion chamber
8 screws now (optic tuning, copied from pinasco, technical no need for that)
added an option for central spark.plug
very NICE!
piston:
preety similiar to.the old.one
but strenghtehed, 15gr heavier
window still doesnt fit the cylinder
POOR!
tuning:
low timings are perfect for every tuner as he can cut his own aimed timings
GOOD!
power:
only 11,5hp and 14,1nm pnp with si24 and sip road is not acceptable for 400.- as it is DR177 level (=135,-) other 177 tuning kits have 15-16hp. diagrams: search4 "germanscooterforum polini 177 aluminium" &go to page 3 for dynamometer diagrams with div5 different box exhausts, original and then ported 14,7hp with siproad
very POOR!
conclusion:
buy sthg else.
nice try polini, but fail as the gained power counts.
problems:
1) very too low timings
2) piston still oldstylish
its more optic tuning than well tought throug
for that weak power the kit is way too expensive
but thats polini style, simply think of the aluminium polini 210, same renewal here, new cool looking head but still 1) old piston 2) low timings as ever since the early 1980es (200ccm gains more power.. so its not THAT obvious as with this 177 kit)
