Can a single palletizing robot keep up if a lot of parts are coming quickly down several lines?
It depends on a lot of factors including cycle rate and product size, but the answer may be yes if you choose the correct end-of-arm tooling and robot model.
Shown here is a nail-plate bundle palletizing application using an ABB 6-axis IRB 6700 robot with tooling for handling a whole pallet row of bundles at a time. This end-of-line solution has sliding buffer and pick zones in-line with each incoming conveyor. The custom EOAT developed in collaboration from Schmalz is capable of picking up to 36 different sizes of nail plates without the need for a tool change. Combined with an automatic pallet dispenser and robot-mounted vacuum cups for picking and placing slip sheets, this is a fully integrated palletizing solution.
